Rice/Bean Bags for the kids

These would have to be THE most easiest thing to sew EVER!
Square Bean/Rice bags!

I lined mine with calico just for extra durability (After thee husband decided to start pegging them at people I was glad I did)

Cut out 2 lots of (14cm x 14cm) pieces of material in any fabric you like If you want a lining cut out another 2 (14 x 14cm) squares Remember you're going to make these inside out then once they are sewn you turn them out the right way...

Facing your 2 pieces of material RIGHT SIDES together, add your lining either side of those so the calico is on the outer sides...

kind of like a sandwich ... the calico is your bread and the fancy material is your filling!

Then you sew around the edges (1/4 inch seam) leaving an inch wide hole for an opening. I did this twice just to make sure the rice stays in good!

With your opening turn your little bags the right way out (a pencil comes in handy here) and use a funnel (or cardboard made into a cone) to fill in some rice, beans, pasta etc

With a needle and thread turn your hem in and blanket stitch the opening closed.

It's the school holidays here and I thought this would give my 3 something to do, and it has, as well as Daddy teaching them to peg them at each other!
Arghhhhh
